Article: Listening to Distant Voices
Three artists from the Philippines offer listeners a refreshing, new sound online.
Come What May - Air Supply (Francis Greg - Cover)
Browsing YouTube as a writer, such as myself, can lead to discovering something new and refreshing. For me, it was discovering the music of Filipino musician Frances Greg, and more recently, his fellow artists Anthony Uy and Bugoy Drilon.
Francis Greg -- A New Voice From Cebu is one of three articles I’ve written about Greg, whose vocal cover songs have amassed thousands of online views, resulting in a broad international fan base.
Greg's music offers listeners unique vocal performances characterized by a soft voice and distinctive style, seamlessly fusing various musical genres. His songs frequently explore themes of love, relationships, heartbreak, and the myriad joys and challenges of existence, appealing to both live and online audiences.
Similarly, Anthony Uy and Bugoy Drilon bring an honest and approachable quality to their music, which I've come to enjoy and believe deserves to be heard here.
Stuck On You - Lionel Richie (Anthony Uy - Cover)
Hailing from Cotabato City, Anthony Uy is making a mark in the Pop music scene in the Philippines and online. His music blends upbeat rhythms with traditional Pop elements and contemporary sounds, creating a distinct and memorable style. Uy's ability to connect with his audience has earned him fans locally and internationally, showcasing his passion and uplifting performances.
If You’re Not The One - Daniel Bedingfield (Bugoy Drilon - Cover)
Bugoy Drilon, has captivated audiences not only with his compelling and exceptional singing ability but also because of his complete involvement and engagement in every aspect of his performances, including his physical presence and expression.
Since he was a runner-up on the second season of "Pinoy Dream Academy." Bugoy has become known as a notable ballad singer in the Philippines, releasing successful singles and albums that resonate with audiences both at home and abroad. His versatility across various music genres, especially in ballads and love songs, has solidified his place in the music industry.
A common thread that brings all three singers together has been their collaboration with Music Travel Love (MTL) a Canadian musical duo composed of Bob and Clint Moffatt whose musical style encompasses elements of country, folk, and acoustic pop. The duo has garnered a significant online following for their heartfelt performances and captivating travel-themed music videos. Performances by each artist with Music Travel Love are available online, such as the one below.
Frances Greg, Mark Anthony Uy and Bugoy, will be guest artists at the upcoming “Music Travel Love and Friends concerts in Manila (Friday, April 12 at SM Sky Dome) and Davao (Sunday, April 14 at SMX Convention Center). Brother Dave Moffatt will join MTL's Bob and Clint for a performance featuring Moffatt favorites, enjoyed by thousands of fans in the Philippines, throughout Asia, and worldwide, both live and online.
